School suspends three boys amid allegations of raping a 16-year-old girl in Ermelo

ERMELO – Three boys between the ages of 16 and 17-years-old were arrested in connection with rape in Ermelo.

According to Capt Carla Prinsloo, spokesman for Ermelo police, it is alleged that they raped a 16-year-old girl on August 18 in the back of a bakkie.

She added the victim reported this matter to Ermelo police the day after the incident took place.

The boys will first be evaluated by a social worker before a court date is set for them to appear.

Highvelder sent media enquiries to a local school in Ermelo, which the learners attend, and it was confirmed that the boys have been suspended pending further investigation.
