Louis van der Hoven’s alleged killer appears in Evander Court again

Court postpones case again to November.

Mr Bongezi Gladwin Mdeliswa who allegedly killed Mr Louis van der Hoven in July 2017, appeared in the Evander Regional Court on Wednesday, August 25.

The case was postponed to Wednesday, November 24.

Mr Mdeliswa allegedly stabbed Mr Van der Hoven with a knife after an argument ensued between the two men.

According to a police report, Mr Van der Hoven was on his way on Friday, July 7 2017 to attend an event when he stopped next to the road and picked up some hitchhikers.

The hitchhikers then allegedly began fighting and one of the men assaulted a woman on the back of Mr Van der Hoven’s bakkie. Mr Van der Hoven stopped his bakkie and asked them to get off.

Mr Van der Hoven intervened when the hitchhiker continued to assault the woman and Mr Mdeliswa allegedly stabbed him with a knife in the eye.

Mr Van der Hoven was taken to hospital on July 10 2017 and died on July 10, 2017.
