Foul sewage odor plagues residents in Pres Fouché Street

“The sewerage smell is strong and constant throughout the day and night which engulfs our houses with a stench.

ERMELO – Residents in Pres Fouché Avenue are fed up with poor service delivery as a manhole has been over flowing for a couple of months.

Ms Anesca Moodley, resident in Pres Fouché Avenue, informed Highvelder on 1 September about the issue and said the manhole is situated directly opposite her house in an open field that leads to a stream.

She said residents have complained numerous times to Msukaligwa Local Municipality, but in vain.

“The best they could do was to send a TLB to dig trenches for the sewage to flow into the stream.”

Ms Moodley reported the leakage to the municipality three times; twice over a phone call and once on the municipal service delivery Telegram group.

She said the manhole has been leaking since February.

“Throughout the day the foul odor plagues residents and lingers in their homes.”

Highvelder sent media enquiries to Mr Mandla Zwane, spokesman of Msukaligwa Municipality and awaits response.
