A 46-years-old man appeared before Bethal Magistrate’s Court facing attempted murder charges on Tuesday, August 24.
This came after the eMzinoni Police were informed that the man had assaulted his girlfriend (25) and then refused that the severely injured woman go to the doctor or a clinic because she would have been required to explain what had happened.
It is alleged that the man also threatened to kill his girlfriend if she told anyone what happened.
The man was remanded in custody and appear again in court on September 2 for bail application.
Sgt Cynthia Mtsweni pleaded with women to report any abuse because if they don’t report their abusive partners, they will end up being killed.
She also said even if they are afraid to go to the police station, they can call 10111.
