MEC Vusi Shongwe warns motorists to display number plates and license disks

“Furthermore, such vehicles are treated with suspicion that their drivers could be having criminal intent,” Mr Shongwe said.

MPUMALANGA – Mr Vusi Shongwe, MEC for Community Safety Security and Liaison Mpumalanga, warned motorists to ensure their vehicles’ number plates and license disks are displayed at all times.

As the long weekend draws to a close and traffic volumes are high, Mr Shongwe said.

One of the challenges experienced by law enforcement officers, is vehicles that are on the road without number plates and license disks.

“Non displaying of license disks and number plates is not only a violation of the law, but it also make motorists vulnerable to criminals, who at times impersonate police in order to rob unsuspecting motorists of their valuables.

“Furthermore, such vehicles are treated with suspicion that their drivers might have criminal intent,” Mr Shongwe said.
