Gang members armed with pangas allegedly set a car on fire at Ext 17, eMbalenhle on Saturday night, September 25.
According to community members who reside near the place where the incident occurred, the gang attacked and seriously injured the motorist.
He managed to escape to a nearby house where he was rushed to hospital then the car was set alight by the alleged gangsters.
Police said no case was opened but only a report from police members who saw the car when they were patrolling.
Colonel Maria Sibanyoni, station commander of eMbalenhle Police Station, said no one opened a case about a burning care. The police are waiting for the owner to come forward and explain about the incident.
“We request that anyone with information of what happened to the car and where is the owner, to contact us.
“The community must refrain form hiding information and then blaming the police,” said Colonel Sibanyoni.
