Standerton Police nab alleged drug dealer

The suspect was found in possession of dagga, with an estimated street value of R330 000.

Standerton Police apprehended a 34-year-old man in the early hours of Wednesday, November 3 in connection with dealing in dagga.

The suspect was due to appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, November 4.

According to police, an intelligence-driven operation yielded positive results.

The suspect was found in possession of dagga, with an estimated street value of R330 000.

Police indicated that they were notified about a certain vehicle transporting dagga from KwaZulu-Natal to Gauteng.

They acted on the information and spotted a white, Toyota Fortuna, with Gauteng registration number plates, matching the description provided.

Police stopped the vehicle on the R23 Road and conducted a search.

About 12 bags of dagga were reportedly discovered.

The provincial commissioner of police, Lieut-Gen Semakaleng Manamela, thanked the public for participating in the fight against crime by providing valuable information.
