Robbers hit Kinross Post Office on pension payout day

The gunmen stole R390 000 from the safe and then fled the scene in a dark grey Mercedes Benz.

The Kinross Post Office was robbed of R390 000 on pension payout day last Wednesday, November 3.

According to the police spokesman, Sgt Jaco Nagel, the post office was bustling with people waiting in line for their different payouts.

A man entered the post office at about 09:00 and asked for the toilet.

“While he was interacting with the cashier, two other men followed.

“They pulled out firearms, kicked open the door and demanded money.”

Sgt Nagel said the robbers held the staff at gunpoint and instructed them to open the safe.

The gunmen stole R390 000 from the safe and then fled the scene in a dark grey Mercedes Benz.

The registration number was KCG 202MP.

No arrests have yet been made.
