Alleged eMbalenhle serial killer’s trial is set for March

Mihle’s body was found dumped in the street with her hands and feet tied with pieces of plastic.

Mr Themba Shongwe (35), alleged serial rapist and killer from eMbalenhle, is set for trial next year after he appeared before the Secunda Regional Court on Thursday, November 25.

He will stand trial for the rape and murder of four girls from Ext 17, eMbalenhle since 2016, as well as the rape of two more girls who managed to escape.

Mr Shongwe was arrested two years ago, shortly after Mihle Singamo (14) was raped and killed.

A few hours after she was reported missing on Wednesday, 7 November 2019. Mihle’s body was found dumped in the street with her hands and feet tied with pieces of plastic.

Nokulunga Nkutha (11) was reported missing in August 2016 and her body was also dumped in the street.

Cynthia Masilela (12) was raped, murdered and dumped in the street in 2017.

Community members burned down Mr Shongwe’s house before his arrest.

The trial is set for 17 and 18 March22.
