An armed robbery occurred at the Bala-Bala Chinese store late this afternoon, Thursday, December 9.
It is believed that three armed men forced themselves into the store and shot at a security guard when he tried to stop them from entering the premises.
The extent of the security guard’s injuries is not yet known but he has been admitted to Evander Hospital.

The robbers demanded that the customers and staff lay down on the floor.
They proceeded to rob the individuals in the store of their belongings.
It is not clear whether they were able to access the safe as the matter is still under investigation.
The three suspects then rushed to their get-away vehicle, a white Opel Astra with a GP registration number, where a driver and another suspect waiting for them.

The robbers fled in the direction of Evander with various security companies, the Secunda Community Policing Forum (CPF), Afriforum and the police hot on their trail.
The suspects were cornered off at Century Electrical and Toecor Drycleaners in Evander where three of the suspects were arrested.
