A 38-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment in December at the Secunda Regional Court for raping a 14-year-old family member.
The crime occurred in eMbalenhle at the victim’s house where her uncle, the rapist, also lived.
The matter was reported to eMbalenhle Police Station in October 2018.
The uncle stayed in an outside room at the house.
He send the 14-year-old girl to the shop to buy something and when she returned, he took her inside his room and raped her.
Her mother hear something was going on inside and called but the uncle did not come out.
She then broke the window to get access to the room and later reported the rape to the police.
