Police and KSS in Standerton act swiftly to arrest five suspects

During the arrest, the police also recovered four firearms and 38 rounds of live ammunition.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Mpumalanga, Lieut-Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, said in a press statement the past week that efforts of police and the security industry in Standerton are appreciated.

Altogether five suspects, aged between 24 and 50 years, were arrested on January 14 in connection with business robbery.

According to the report, a group of armed suspects stormed into a shop in Mbonani Mayisela Street, pointed firearms at the owner and cashier and demanded cash.

They took an undisclosed amount of money from the till and fled in a white Toyota Etios.

Police were alerted about the incident and pursued the suspects, who were cornered and apprehended in Van Veen Street, Standerton, with the assistance of Kasselman Security Services. There were about four other suspects who managed to escape.

During the arrest, the police also recovered four firearms and 38 rounds of live ammunition.

The suspects were due to appear in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on Monday, January 17.

Police requested anyone with information that can lead to the whereabouts of the remaining suspects, to contact Sgt Oupa Hadebe on 063 445 7885 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111.
