Two men were arrested today, February 2 at around 12:00, in Secunda after attempting to hijack a vehicle in Ermelo.
According to a source, a call was received of an attempted vehicle hijacking and that the suspects were heading towards the Bethal N17 direction.
The vehicle and the suspected hijackers were spotted just after the toll gate heading towards Trichardt on the N17.
The police, K9 unit, flying squad and MavCorp High Risk Response gave chase and successfully apprehended the two suspects across the road from the Sasol Junction on the Trichardt-Secunda road.
They were taken into police custody.
A case of attempted hijacking is currently being opened by the owner of the vehicle at the Ermelo Police Station.
