Police opened murder dockets after four men were murdered in unrelated incidents in eMbalenhle the past week.
The body of Mbulelo Baninzi (44) was discovered at the Marikana informal settlement in Ext 16, eMbalenhle, on Tuesday, February 1.
According to the police, the deceased has a stab wound in his neck and a knife was found next to his body.
Const Busi Mthethwa said community members informed the police about the incident.
When the police arrived on the scene, they found the door locked and when they looked inside the shack through an open window, they saw the body of a naked man.
The police then forced open the door.
Nombulelo Mgqalelo, the sister of the deceased, told the newspaper that on Monday night her brother returned from a nearby tavern with a woman on his arm.
She said he greeted all of his neighbours because that was his way to let them know that he was at home.
“We were notified by his friends about his tragic death. His friends went to check him at his shack on Tuesday morning and found that the door was locked, but the window was open.
“When they checked inside, they saw their friend on the floor with bloodstains on his body. They then notified the police.
“Our family wants the woman who had been with my brother to tell the police what had happened.
“My brother’s neighbours said the woman had informed them that she was going to buy matches that night and never came back,” said Mgqalelo.
“After that, my brother was found dead. We are not saying that she is guilty, she has got to give the police information on what had happened,” said Mgqalelo.
Const Mthethwa said a murder case was opened and no one is arrested. The police are still investigating.
In another case, a 24-year-old man was found dead on Monday morning, January 31, also in Ext 16.
