Tavern owner in eMbalenhle faces murder charge

The second man was also treated in hospital and survived.

A 52-year-old eMbalenhle tavern owner was arrested for murder after a 29-year-old man died of gunshot wounds in the Evander Hospital on Sunday, March 13.

According to police, they received a call from the hospital that a man was admitted with bullet wounds to his head and died while receiving life support.

The police found out that the man had been shot at the tavern in the Gate 7 section at eMbalenhle.

A murder docket was opened.

The tavern owner was arrested and he might also be facing a charge of attempted murder because another man was allegedly also shot.

The second man was also treated in hospital and survived.

The reason for the shooting is currently unknown and the tavern owner is expected to appear before court soon.
