Fruit-and vegetable vendor in Standerton shot twice

Jannie Kasselman requested assistance from the police’s K9-unit to help in the search for the weapons

Kasselman Security Services (KSS) received a call on Tuesday, March 15 at about 18:00 about an armed robbery behind the Sasol Garage on the Secunda Road.

Information was followed up and it transpired that a vendor was robbed of his cash.

He was shot twice, but not fatally wounded.

Emergency services treated the vendor, who is currently in a stable condition in Ermelo Provincial Hospital.

A total of three suspects were involved in the crime.

They attempted to steal his vehicle as well, but did not succeed.

The suspects fled on foot, but were spotted near the substation in Florapark.

KSS gave chase and apprehended them near the Secunda Road.

Ammunition, stolen cash and a firearm holster were found on the suspects.

The suspects were handed over to police.
