eMbalenhle Police find body in burnt-out car

Mthethwa said although a family has come forward and claimed the body was that of a family member, the police are waiting for the forensic results to confirm the victim’s identity.

eMBALENHLE- Police in eMbalenhle opened an inquest docket after the body of an unknown man was discovered inside a burnt-out car at the old Bracken Mine on Monday, March 14.

According to Const Busi Mthethwa, spokesperson of eMbalenhle Police, they received a call from the community about the burnt-out car at the old mine.

She said the police noticed the car wreck in the veld and upon closer inspection, they saw a body burnt beyond recognition in the back seat.

Mthethwa said although a family has come forward and claimed the body is that of a family member, the police are waiting for the forensic results to confirm the victim’s identity.

The police ask anyone with information about the incident, to contact Detective Sgt Menzi Hlophe on 073 324 9191.
