eMbalenhle Police arrest two for Dazana’s murder

The case was changed from inquest to murder after the police arrest of Thandazile Dazana (30) and Muziwethu Skwati (39), who appeared on a charge of murder in the Evander Court on Wednesday, March 23.

Police in eMbalenhle arrested two suspects in connection with Muziwakhe Dazana’s murder on Friday, March 18.

The police opened an inquest docket after Dazana’s body was discovered inside a burnt-out car at the old Bracken Mine on Monday, March 14.

According to Const Busi Mthethwa, spokesperson of eMbalenhle Police, they received a call from the community about the burnt-out car at the old mine.

Upon their arrival, they noticed the car wreck in the veld and then they saw a body burnt beyond recognition in the back seat.

Mthethwa said although Dazana’s family has come forward to claim the body as that of their family member, the police are still waiting for the forensic results to confirm the victim’s identity.

The case was changed from inquest to murder after the police arrest of Thandazile Dazana (30) and Muziwethu Skwati (39), who appeared on a charge of murder in the Evander Court on Wednesday, March 23.

The case was postponed to Tuesday, March 29 for a formal bail application and the two are remanded in custody.
