Sanral fix potholes on N17 between Trichardt and Kinross

Towing services tow away many vehicles over Easter weekend.

After many motorists had damaged their vehicles and were involved in accidents on the N17 national highway between Trichardt and Kinross last weekend, Sanral jumped in quickly to fix the many potholes that were the cause of the incidents.

According to the owners of towing services, about 40 vehicles were towed away over the Easter weekend.

Rumours were circling on social media that the entire road had been washed away, however, the road was still in tact but just pockmarked with massive potholes.

Sanral maintenance teams were seen fixing the potholes on Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19.

Madoda Mthembu, Sanral’s operations and maintenance manager in the northern region, said it was a work in progress and by the end of the week all the potholes should be fixed.

“This road endured many pavement failures resulting in the formation of potholes due to the incessant rain experienced in this area,” said Mthembu.

“Our maintenance team are now doing deep patching to restore the pavement surface to safe levels.”

He said people who had suffered damage to their vehicles because of the potholes could submit a claim which would be evaluated by Sanral’s appointed maintenance contractor.

Claims can be sent to Liza Mokubedi at MokubediL@nra.co.za
