Alleged robbers arrested and vehicle impounded near Standerton

A multidisciplinary team of law enforcement agencies was swiftly assembled, which consisted of police and private security stakeholders.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieut-Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, thanked members of the police in Amersfoort for their hard work.

According to a press statement dated May 11, they responded swiftly to a duty call after receiving news of a robbery at one of the business premises, owned by a Chinese national.

Police were called to the crime scene on Monday, May 9 around 19:10 and upon arrival, the business owner related his ordeal.

According to him, four suspects robbed him of his cash before fleeing in a maroon Chevrolet Cruze.

He said the suspects headed in the Ermelo direction.

Ermelo Police were immediately alerted of the vehicle entering their precinct and the collaboration resulted in the vehicle being stopped.

Three suspects were arrested and the suspected stolen cash recovered.

According to the statement, one of the suspects evaded arrest and is still at large.

The vehicle that was reportedly used in the robbery, was also impounded.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon and the investigation continues.
