Kasselman Security Services (KSS) sent information on Thursday, June 2 about an armed robbery at the Post Office.
According to information, it happened early in the morning at the intersection of Burger Street and Beyers Naudé Street, Standerton.
Pensioners formed a queue to receive their Sassa-grants.
One woman, who sat outside the closed doors at about 11:00, said that she had been waiting since 7:00.
A desolate air was noticeable among the elderly and the gravity of the situation understood.
The Standerton Advertiser contacted the spokesman of Standerton Police, Capt Gibi Mtshweni, on Friday, June 3.
Capt Mtshweni said an unknown man asked the manager for keys to the safe, before pointing a firearm at her.
The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
According to police, staff were locked in the safe.
Kasselman Security Services and police were on the scene.
The Standerton Advertiser was unsuccessful in its attempts on June 3 to speak to the provincial communications officer of Sassa.
