
Police in eMbalenhle are investigating the robbery of a cellphone shop where cellphones and Yoko machines worth R200 000 were looted on Thursday, June 23.
According to Const Busi Mthethwa, eMbalenhle Police spokesperson, cops were informed of a robbery in progress at Kaya Mall.
Upon their arrival, the police discovered the robbers had already escaped with the cellphones and Yoko machines.
Mthethwa said the shop employees claimed the robbers forced them to open a cellphone safe and took the 150 cellphones inside.
They then also stole the Yoko machines.
Mthethwa said the suspects are still at large as no arrest has yet been made.
Another business robbery happened at a shop in Ext 5 where an estimated R32 000 were taken.
Mthethwa said the shop employee was opening the shop when three assailants grabbed and pushed his head towards the counter. They then took the money and fled.
Mthethwa said a case of business robbery was opened.
No arrests have yet been made and the investigation continues.
