Numerous cases reported at eMbalenhle Police

The police are investigating several incidents that happened in eMbalenhle last week.

One such case is the attempted murder of a 21-year-old man who was run over by a car.

According to Const Busi Mthethwa, eMbalenhle Police spokesperson, the victim was walking in the street at Ext 15 when a car followed him. The victim alleged that the driver said he was going to kill him.

The driver passed the pedestrian and drove on, but then returned and allegedly run the young man over before speeding away.

No arrest has yet been made.

Police also opened a case of house robbery at Ext 19 eMbalenhle when a victim was robbed of his cellphone, laptop and TV.

According to the police, the victim was sitting in his room when he heard someone screaming for help.

When he went out to investigate, he saw an unknown armed man standing next to his neighbour’s house.

Const Mthethwa said the victim asked what was happening, but the man pointed the gun at the victim.

Two others then appeared.

The victim ran back to his room but the robbers followed and robbed him.

They have not yet been arrested.

In another incident, a 26-year-old woman, who was on her way to work, was raped in Ext 14.

According to Mthethwa, the victim was on her way to catch a lift to work when an unknown man approached her and demanded sex.

Mthethwa said the man placed a knife between the woman’s thighs and forced her to an open field where he undressed and rape her.

He then fled the scene.

No arrest has yet been made.

The police also opened an inquest docket after a man was found hanging by a rope in a house in Ext 15, eMbalenhle.

According to Mthethwa, police received information about a man who had allegedly committed suicide.

When the cops arrived on the scene, they found the man hanging by a rope.

Medical personnel was summoned to the scene and the man was certified dead.

Mthethwa also said police opened a murder case after the body of a 29-year-old woman was found at Ext 22 eMbalenhle on Saturday, July 9.

The woman was found with a wound on her forehead and was declared dead.

No arrest has been made and the police are still investigating.

A man was hijacked between eMbalenhle and Charl Cilliers on Thursday, July 7.

According to Mthethwa, the victim was driving on the R546 towards Charl Cilliers when a black Toyota Yaris rammed into the back of his car.

The victim stopped and went to confront the Toyota Yaris driver, but the other motorist pulled a gun on him.

The passengers in the Yaris then jumped out and searched the victim,

He was robbed of R800 and his cellphone.

Mthethwa said a hijacking case was opened at the eMbalenhle Police and no arrests have been made

Mthethwa also warned motorists to be alert of such hijackings.

She said they must not stop if they are bumped until they get to the nearest police station.
