A man (39) was found guilty and convicted in the Secunda Regional Court on Tuesday, July 12 for kidnapping and raping a 15-year-old girl in Standerton in 2020.
The culprit met the girl walking in the street the Sunday evening of September 13, grabbed her and forcefully took her to his residence.
According to a media statement, he locked the door, undressed her and raped her more than once.
The following day the door was opened.
The victim was told not to tell her parents that he raped her, but to tell them she was at a party.
According to police, the man was drunk when he kidnapped and raped the girl.
He was sentenced to 18 years imprisonment on count one of rape, 18 years imprisonment on count two of rape, six years imprisonment on count three of kidnapping.
Count one and two are to run concurrently to an effective sentence of 24 years.
