Police open a case of arson after fire in Princess Street, Standerton
Firefighters and police were on the scene as the shop was burning.
A fire broke out at a wholesaler in Princess Street on July 22 at about 23:30.
According to police, the security guard on duty noticed a white Toyota Etios passing several times.
At first, he thought it was the owner of the shop’s car. A person subsequently came from the street and handed him a phone.
The guard talked to his employer who told him to knock off and he left.
While walking to the taxi rank, he saw smoke coming from the direction of the shop and went back.
Firefighters and police were on the scene as the shop was burning. Police said the cause of the fire is unknown and the damage to the shop is not known either.
