The trial of Themba Shongwe, a man accused of the murder and rape of several young girls in eMbalenhle, has resumed in the Secunda Regional Court today, July 26.
The first witness who is a survivor, testified in camera today.
Magistrate Graham Cupido briefed the survivor of her constitutional rights of being able to testify without an audience present in the gallery.
The community and journalists were asked to remain outside the courtroom while the survivor testified.
The trial will continue tomorrow, July 27.
