Matrose is back as Leandra Police Station commander
“I again want to involve our community in fighting crime by participating in community policing programmes, police youth desk and spiritual services.”
Lieut-Col Khuselwa Matrose returned as the Leandra Police Station commander after four years of serving at different stations within the Secunda cluster.
Matrose began her police career as a constable in the same police station in 2005.
She was promoted to the rank of warrant officer and became a media liaison officer for the police.
In 2012 Matrose was given the rank of captain and transferred to Val Police Station as the station commander where worked for three years until she was promoted to her current rank.
After she was promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel, she was the station commander at Bethal Police Station for four months before being brought back to Leandra Police Station.
“I again want to involve our community in fighting crime by participating in community policing programmes, the police youth desk and spiritual services.
“Our priority crimes are gender-based violence and domestic violence because of the number of reported cases in our police station.
“Since my police career began here in Leandra, I understand what are our community’s challenges and what needs to be done,” said Matrose.
