SANBS’ Teksa branch commemorates blood donors on milestones

James van Wyk was the top blood donor with a reached milestone of 250 units.

SANBS commemorated loyal blood donors on their milestones at its annual celebration held at Graceland Hotel, Casino and Country Club on Friday, September 16.

This year was an even bigger event with 390 guests who attended the commemoration celebration.

The previous two years’ celebrations were halted, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“In spite of the events of the past two years, they (donors) have remained loyal to their commitment to saving lives. For this, we thank them,” said Dot Prinsloo, donor relations practitioner.

James van Wyk is the top blood donor. He reached the milestone of having donated 250 units of blood.

Altogether 70 donors achieved their Club 25 milestone; 153 donors donated 50 units each; 98 reached their 75th milestone and 71 reached their 100th milestone.

A total of 43 donors reached the 125th milestone; 25 donors achieved the milestone by donating 150 units of blood; 19 donors reached the 175th milestone and 17 donors reached the milestone of donating their 200th unit.

Four donors reached their 225th milestone.

“On behalf of all the recipients in South Africa and their families, we wish to thank them (the donors) for their unwavering dedication to donating blood and saving lives.

“Each cherished drop of blood they have given, has allowed many recipients an opportunity to create new lasting memories,” said Prinsloo.

Together they have saved up to 121 500 patients’ lives. They are #TrustedToSaveLives.
