Cullinan SAPS hosts boot camp for boys
The purpose of the all boys camp was to prepare them for the future.
The Cullinan Police, in cooperation with other stakeholders, hosted a boot camp for boys at a local game farm from September 30 to October 1.
Around 50 youngsters, aged between nine and 16 years and from different provinces attended the camp.
“The purpose of the all-boys boot camp was to prepare them for the future,” said Sergeant Connie Moganedi, corporate communication spokesperson for Cullinan SAPS, in a media statement released Saturday, October 1.
On the agenda for the weekend were topics such as the importance of a good education, gender-based violence, suicide, bullying, illegal use of intoxicating substances and the life of an offender.
“All the youngsters responded positively to the programme and interacted with the social workers as well as the police,” Moganedi added.
The majority of the boys felt free to voice the challenges they face, particularly from homes affected by domestic violence.
