Councillor of Ward 105 in City of Tshwane dies in car accident
His vehicle overturned on the Verena Road between Gemsbokspruit and Verena.
Councillor Jan Mahlangu of Ward 105 in the City of Tshwane metro died in an accident on Tuesday morning, October 4.
Ward 105 included Sokhulumi, parts of Zithobeni and Masada.
“Mahlangu was travelling alone when his vehicle overturned on Verena Road between Gemsbokspruit and Verena,” said Gift Sebastian Langa, zonal head of DIP and spokesperson.
A civic funeral service was held on October 7, starting with an intimate church service at the Mahlangu household for members of the family, followed by a municipal service at the Sokhulumi Multipurpose Centre where
Mahlangu’s remains were ushered into the hall by the ANC branch executive committee.
The family was handed an ANC flag in his honour.
State officials accompanied by the police took his remains to his final resting place where his family performed traditional rituals.
