Case of teenager’s death in Volksrust postponed

This follows the death of a 13-year-old teenage boy allegedly killed in Volksrust by his biological mother on Friday, October 7.

Josiyn Abrams (36) appeared in the Volksrust Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 10.

The case was postponed to Friday, November 11 for further investigation and the suspect was remanded in custody.

This follows the death of a 13-year-old teenage boy allegedly killed in Volksrust by his biological mother on Friday, October 7.

According to a statement by police, an eight-month-old girl, as well as a 63-year-old woman, sustained stab wounds during the incident.

Police arrested Abrams in connection with murder as well as two counts of attempted murder.

According to the information, police were informed about a fight at a certain house and went to the scene.

Upon arrival, they had to break the locked door to gain entry and discovered the body of the teenager, lying in a pool of blood on the floor of the lounge.

The victim had visible stab wounds on the chest and in his throat.

According to police, the suspect’s mother was found hiding in the toilet and also had a stab wound in her lower body.

The injured toddler was found in the same room as the suspect.

This incident was strongly condemned by the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela.

The General urged the public to seek professional help whenever they face challenges to prevent such horrific incidents.
