Two girls were the victims in shocking cases reported to eMbalenhle police. The first victim was a 14-year-old gang-raped at Ext 22 on January 19.
The girl was walking on the street when three men approached her. They grabbed her and dragged her to a shack, where they took turns raping her.
Constable Busi Mthethwa, the eMbalenhle police spokesperson, said the child’s parent opened a rape case. Police are still looking for the suspects.
Mthethwa said the suspects are known to the victim. No arrests were made at the time of going to print.

The second girl’s remains were found in a field near eKhaya Mall on January 22.
According to Mthethwa, the body was burnt beyond recognition and underwear was found near it.
Mthethwa said the girl is estimated to be between 11 and 13 years old. The police have opened an inquest docket.
Mthethwa appealed to anyone with information to come forward and said their identity would be protected.
