Security guard dies during robbery in Secunda

It is not clear yet if the men managed to blast open the safe and if they managed to take money.

A gang of four to five men entered the Sasol Junxion Filling Station just after 3.30 this morning (June 19) and tried to blast open a drop safe.

A security guard from Roman Alarms, who was standing off and happened to be present at the filling station at the time of the robbery was shot three times and died.

Although his name is known to Ridge Times and posts are circulating on Facebook, his employer said his family has not yet been notified.

The owner of the filling station did not want to give the media any information. The Secunda Police said they were still investigating and could not yet give more information.
