Standerton Regional Court sentences culprit to life imprisonment
Police indicated that Zozo shot his girlfriend, Akhona Myolwa, in September 2021, firing six bullets.
A hefty jail sentence was handed down to Vika Jeremiah Shabangu (34) by the Standerton Regional Court on June 15.
Shabangu was found guilty on charges of rape, two charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances and burglary of a residence.
The culprit was sentenced on count one to life imprisonment, on count two to 15 years’ imprisonment, on count three to 15 years’ imprisonment and on count five to five years’ imprisonment.
In another case in the Delmas High Court on the same day, Luthando Lungisa Zozo was found guilty of premeditated murder.
Police indicated that Zozo shot his girlfriend, Akhona Myolwa, in September 2021 by firing six bullets.
The deceased was hit by three bullets and Zozo took her to the hospital where she was declared dead on her arrival.
He was subsequently arrested, his bail opposed and kept in custody since then. The case was postponed to September 19 for sentencing.
