More than 50 take part in Standerton parkrun

Thapelo Mahlangu crossed the finish line in a time of 19:55, improving his personal best, while a first-timer, Patrick Tsotetsi came in at 21:11.

A free event at the Standerton River Park where runners undauntedly attempt 5km, usually attracts new faces.

The parkrun on September 16 was no exception and 67 participants were out of the blocks at 08:00, with eight athletes improving their times and four first-timers on board.

Parkrun is about runners, joggers or walkers, it does not matter how they navigate the route, there are volunteers on standby to either encourage or lend a helping hand.

Participants compete against themselves, with regulars not missing a parkrun.

Thapelo Mahlangu crossed the finish line in 19:55, improving his personal best, while a first-timer, Patrick Tsotetsi came in at 21:11. Jacques Ferreira ran a time of 21:39, followed by Andiswamahlubu Hadebe’s 23:07 and Leann Moll with 29:32.

Johann Vosloo recorded 30:15 in his 50th event, while Andrew Ainsworth registered 30:26, also in his 50th.

Patricia Mudua clocked in at 33:39, Dina Oberholzer at 33:56 and Lehlohonolo Sebiloane at 36:06.

The volunteers, Charl van Wyk, Conrie Roets, Elmien Vermaak, Frans Vermaak, Johannes Vosloo, Krishnalal

Ramdharee, Leandri van Wyk, Lizette Jansen van Rensburg, Lydia Roets, Marjorie Uys, Patrick Tsotetsi, Ruwan Vermaak, Séan Jansen van Rensburg and Sylvy Moodley contributed to a safe and smooth event.
