eMbalenhle Police confirm toddler was murdered

Constable Busi Mthethwa confirmed on May 9 that the partially dressed body found in the field was indeed that of the missing four-year-old Thingo Mahlangu.

Four-year-old Thingo Mahlangu was laid to rest on May 10 after a hunter found his body dumped in a nearby veld in Ext 16, Mbalenhle, on May 2.

Alberthina Mgentsu, the toddler’s grandmother, told the Ridge Times that although her grandson’s body was finally found, she remains heartbroken and still cannot sleep at night.

“How can a human being do such a thing to an innocent toddler?” she asked.

“We won’t rest until Thingo’s murderer is arrested and justice is done,” said Mgentsu.

Thingo went missing on April 17, and a large-scale search of the area on April 26 yielded no results.

Several days later, the hunter stumbled upon the little boy’s body in the same area.

eMbalenhle police spokesperson Constable Busi Mthethwa confirmed on May 9 that the partially dressed body found in the field was indeed that of the missing four-year-old.

Mthethwa said the police are investigating a case of murder.
