Ward 4 residents closed the eMbalenhle Govan Mbeki Municipality technical yard gates, demanding electricity this morning, July 15.

These residents claim that they have days without electricity because of a transformer that burnt last week.

They claim that the municipal employees told them the transformer would not be repaired until the residents agreed to the installation of new smart meters.

This angered the residents.

Currently, they want the mayor, Nhlakanipho Zuma, or the municipal manager to come and take their memorandum.
