Secunda gymnasts bring home the laurels
The youngsters participated in two competitions in Gauteng.
The Secunda Gymnastics Club’s gymnasts excelled in the Artistic Zone competition held from July 14 to 16 in Pretoria.
Scarlett Coetzee and Marliene du Rand attained gold medals, while Zoe-Jane Steyn, Miera Swanepoel and Mia Zwart earned silvers, and Chloe Wride and Ilse Lambrechts received bronze medals.
Other gymnasts from the club also excelled in the Twisters Tumble Cup competition held on July 26 and 27 in Benoni.
Xander Mellet won the bench, trampoline and tumble divisions, while Jordan Singh won the trampoline and tumble divisions and finished third in the bench division in his age group.
Wessel Vermaas won the bench and tumble divisions and finished second in the trampoline division. Koos Crause won the trampoline division and finished second in the bench division and third in the tumble division.

Jane du Preez won the bench and tumble divisions and finished seventh in the trampoline division.
Jethro Holloway won the trampoline and tumble divisions and finished second in the bench division, and Leane Becker won the bench division and finished fourth in the tumble division.
The other gymnasts who excelled in their respective age groups are Kristine Pienaar (second in the bench division and fifth in the tumble division), Amily Obermeyer (second in the trampoline division, third in the tumble division and eighth in the bench division), Gavrielle Govender (third in the bench and trampoline divisions), Shiloh Holloway (third in the trampoline division, fourth in the bench division and sixth in the tumble division), Jane Kasselman (third in the tumble division and sixth in the bench division), Christie van der Merwe (third in the bench division), Tumelo Ngxongo (third in the tumble division), Lesego Sehunwe (fifth in the trampoline division and seventh in the bench division), Marelie Venter (seventh in the trampoline and tumble divisions) and Saoirse O’Dwyer (eighth in the bench division).
