Woman finds dog carcasses on walk in Standerton
Three dead dogs were found in the River Park. It is alleged that these animals were dumped because of the heavy security at the dumping site, making it impossible for people to dump dead animals on the site.
A resident gathering wood with her son early on the morning of July 24 stumbled on a horrifying scene at the Standerton River Park.
Two puppies of an unidentifiable breed lay dead and discarded on the ground. Upon further investigation, they found another dog, a dachshund, lying a few meters away.
A baby deer was also found dead in a box with an old towel draped over it.
The Standerton Advertiser visited the scene. It seems the dogs were not killed in the river park but dumped on the premises.
“This is a major health risk and overall a terrible thing to do,” said Hillel Coetzer of the Northern Light Foundation Animal Shelter.
There are no clues as to who dumped these dead animals.
Civilians are encouraged to report sightings of these horrendous acts to the Standerton Advertiser on 072 666 2946.
