Murder cases in Standerton spike in recent weeks
Three bodies were discovered in the Standerton area in recent weeks.
Crime in Standerton has been rife during the past weeks after the murder of Renee Lea.
According to a report by Captain Braam Robberts, communication officer for the Standerton SAPS, an unidentified man’s body was found early on the morning of September 7.
The man was in the long grass next to the R50 road.
“We suspect the incident might have been a hit-and-run accident,” said Robberts.
On the same day, the unidentified body of another man, seemingly between the ages of 25 and 30 years old, was removed from the Vaal River.

Drone photos indicated the body floating in the water near the Meyerville Bridge.
According to Robberts, the man had no visible wounds and an autopsy will determine the cause of death.
Currently, the SAPS is unsure whether foul play is present in this case. The body of a 62-year-old man was found in a house in Coligny Street on September 9.
Two KGB employees discovered the decomposed body under a blanket. The man’s hands and feet were tied.
According to Robberts, there was a blood stain on the floor.
