Grootdraai Dam levels continue to drop

The Department of Water and Sanitation warns residents to use water sparingly as South Africa is a water scarce country.

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) released a state of reservoirs report, detailing the drop in dam levels in the Gert Sibande Region.

All dams in Gert Sibande recorded a decrease with Grootdraai dropping from 75.0% to 73.7%, Nooitgedacht from 78.9% to 78.1%, Vygeboomfrom 95.8% to 94.4%, Jericho from 73.1% to 71.8% and Westoe from 35.9% to 35.5%.

Morgenstond Dam dropped from 71.5% to 70.4% and Heyshope from 97.0% to 96.6%.

A minimal drop in the provincial storage capacity was recorded. It dropped from 84.0% to 83.3%.

The DWS calls the public to use the available water wisely and sparingly as South Africa is a water scarce country.
