People can still pledge for Santa Shoebox project
Make up a gift box and reach out to a child in need.
The yearly Santa Shoebox project kicked off again and the Secunda branch aims to collect 120 boxes for children in need.
The idea of this project is to pledge a box of necessary and specific items to give to children in need.
The organiser of the project, Gerda Peuckert, said usually it is the teenagers who get presents last.
She encouraged the community to become part of this project and help a child in need.
The boxes will be handed out to children at the SAVF Secunda Child and Youth Care Centre, Laerskool Trichardt, the Louis Hildebrandt Child and Youth Care Centre in Volksrust and the Hope Creche in Kinross.
To take part in this project, visit the website, www.santashoebox.org.za, choose Secunda as your region and choose a child for whom you want to make a gift box.

The closing date for the boxes to be made up is November 1 and drop off is November 2. People can also make up boxes in teams of friends or staff or get involved and donate in other ways.
You can also choose to sponsor only some items going inside the boxes. Eight items must be inside each box.
These are a toothbrush and toothpaste, a washcloth and a bar of soap, a set of clothes, a toy, one educational item such as stationary and a sweet.
People can place extra items inside the boxes, such as socks, underwear, more educational items, sanitary towels, deodorant or even a cell phone and a charger.
