Evander court postpones murder case against four
Nhlanhla Nkosi (29), Mandla Skhosana (29), Sibusiso Skhosana (32), and Seun Mbendzi (34) appeared in the dock in connection with the murder of Sifiso Khubeka from eMbalenhle in April.
The Evander Magistrate’s Court on Ocotber 14 postponed the bail hearing of the four people arrested for the murder of Sifiso Khubeka from eMbalenhle.
Nhlanhla Nkosi (29), Mandla Skhosana (29), Sibusiso Skhosana (32), and Seun Mbendzi (34) face charges of kidnapping and murder.
Khubeka’s body was found in the Roodebank River on April 30 after his car was discovered abandoned on Bracken Road.
When Khubeka’s body was found, his hands were tied with cable ties and his legs were tied to a rock.
The four in the dock initially abandoned their bail application after their arrest in May but had a change of heart.

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Melusi Mthombeni, took the witness stand last Monday.
He told the court the four accused were poor candidates for bail pending the seriousness of their case and were also a flight risk.
Their attorney came hard at Mthombeni, asking how his clients could be a flight risk. He said Mthombeni had confiscated his clients’ passports, and he had confirmed their alternative addresses.
Mthombeni responded, saying the four were not only a flight but might interfere with witnesses known to the accused. Mthombeni told the court that one witness was threatened.
The police have a sworn statement from this witness. The bail hearing was postponed to November 6, when the cross-examination will continue.
