Baby born in store in Secunda is doing well
Mall management and tenants collected necessary items for newborn baby.
Fikile Mahlangu gave birth to a baby boy inside Pick n Pay at Secunda Mall last month. Mahlangu did not know she was pregnant.
She was in the store when she went into pre-mature labour and her child was born at six months on September 9.
A medic from Nightguard Security, the company responsible for the mall’s security, and two women from Dis-Chem and Pick n Pay helped Mahlangu deliver the baby in the store.
Mahlangu decided to name him Surprise.
Marieta Kroon from Secunda Mall’s management team said the mother and baby were transported to the hospital shortly after the delivery.
The mall management and tenants collected goods and necessary items for the new mother and baby.
“This little Surprise will be very close to our hearts as he was born in our mall,” said Kroon.
