eMbalenhle elects a new CPF

The new CPF chairperson is Ace Vilakazi and his deputy is a former chairperson, Joseph Mhlongo.

eMBALENHLE – A new CPF committee was elected at eMbalenhle Police Station on October 5. The new CPF chairperson is Ace Vilakazi and his deputy is a former chairperson, Joseph Mhlongo.

Vilakazi is not new to leading the CPF. He led the CPF before he was elected as the Ward 7 Clr during the 2016 local government elections.

Vilakazi said the war against crime in eMbalenhle has begun. The new committee wants to revive sector policing.

“We are going to close the gap between the community and the police. Crime is high in eMbalenhle. Our station is among the stations that dominate the regional, provincial and even national crime statistics.

“This proves that there is not a working relationship between the police and the community,” said Vilakazi.

“We also noticed the system to elect a CPF structure has changed. The election is now done by sector leaders as opposed to community members in the past.”

The CPF’s term of office is five years and after a five-year term lapse, a new structure is elected.
