The municipal manager, Elliot Maseko, said the municipality is an organisation that places great value in all its employees and recognises their sacrifices and invaluable contributions they put into the effectiveness and efficiency of the organisation.
Govan Mbeki Municipality awarded its employees for outstanding performance, contribution, dedication and commitment to service delivery during the municipal year-end function held at Brunfelsia Estate outside Trichardt on December 6.
The municipal manager, Elliot Maseko, said the municipality is an organisation that places great value in all its employees and recognises their sacrifices and invaluable contributions they put into the effectiveness and efficiency of the organisation.
Maseko said the awards promote and foster a culture of excellence within the municipality, encouraging employees to emulate the examples set by the winners.
He also said the objective of the awards is to motivate more than 1 200 employees, who dedicate themselves daily to selflessly serving the municipality’s residents.
“Our responsibility as a caring municipality is to always put the residents first in everything that we do.
The municipal manager said the challenges the municipality faces cannot be ignored.
“Our municipality, like many other municipalities, is dealing with a range of complex issues, including poverty, inequality, unemployment, crime, vandalism of infrastructure, non-payment of municipal services and many others.
“It is important that employees support the current administration in its effort to deliver much-needed services to all residents such as water, sanitation, waste management, and electricity, among others.
“Our strategic direction is to become “A Model City of Excellence” as pronounced by the current administration and the strategic response to the envisaged outcomes is linked to the 2030 vision of the National Development Plan (NDP),” said Maseko.
