Soup kitchen in Standerton kicks off for 2025
The soup kitchen is a weekly event that takes place around 13:00 every Thursday at the offices of Kasselman Security Services at 17 Caledon Street.
The Kasselman Soup Kitchen hosted their first event of 2025 on January 2, feeding members of the community who otherwise would not have a warm plate of food.
Though the main goal of these events is to feed the less fortunate, the soup kitchen often collaborates with other institutions to offer items such as blankets, books and toys for children to enrich the lives of the poor.
This week, recipients could enjoy a flavourful chicken soup served on porridge. After their meal they had their pick of several books, ranging from poetry to romance.
