Wet conditions do not deter Secunda parkrunners
Join the parkrun this Saturday as a volunteer or athlete.
Despite the heavy rain over the past weeks, the parkrun saw 247 athletes take to the course. The volunteers had to change the route because the tunnel was flooded after Secunda received more than 180mm of rain.
Pierru Meyer was the first man to cross the finish line, with Wian Louwrens second and Barry Visagie third. Milan Zwarts was the first woman to cross the finish line, with Mariette Jansen van Vuuren second and Andrika Roux third.
Dieter van Schalkwyk joined the Red Milestone Club 50 and all 22 athletes participated in the Secunda Parkrun for the first time.
The volunteers were Authea Amsterdam, Jannie Botha, Kobus Botha, Rina Botha, Paul du Plooy, Sharon Jonker, Ettienne Kotze, Adam Lapacz, Emila le Roux, Lettie le Roux, Louis le Roux, Rikus le Roux, Rose Makayi, Luqmaan Mathee, Dean Moore, Kobus Muller, Ruth Mutasa, Louis Retief, Celia Reyneke, Johann Reyneke, Keandré Roberts, Erika Swart, Margie van Straaten, Riaan Venter, Hennie Viljoen and Collen Williams.
The Secunda Parkrun takes place every Saturday at 08:00 and anybody can join.
