Waste company caught dumping rubbish illegally in Secunda
CEO says they are implementing further controls.
A waste company took action and disciplinary steps at the end of last year after a local farmer caught two of their workers on camera dumping rubbish in an open field.
The farmer then instructed the two workers to pick up all the rubbish and remove it.
The CEO of the company said in a statement that until the Ridge Times newspaper asked them for comment, they were not aware of the incident and they thanked the newspaper and the farmer for bringing it under their attention.
“We can confirm that this has never happened before and, in response, a full investigation has been completed,” said the CEO.
“We take the responsibility for the safe and correct disposal of waste extremely seriously and our disciplinary procedure has been followed.
“We are also in the process of implementing further controls to ensure that an incident like this is prevented from happening again.”
