Three people arrested for murder in eMbalenhle

Three people have been arrested in eMbalenhle for the brutal murder of Abram Masiteng, whose body was discovered bound and dumped in a river after he was accused of stealing a television and cellphone.

Police in eMbalenhle have arrested three people in connection with the murder of Abram Masiteng (24), who was accused of stealing a television and a cellphone in Ext 21.

According to the eMbalenhle police, officers received a complaint on February 15 about an incident of mob justice in Ext 21. It was alleged that Masiteng was dragged to a kraal near the Wellas River, where he was thrown into the water.

Public Order Police were summoned to the scene, and a search operation was launched. However, initial efforts to locate Masiteng were unsuccessful.

The search continued into the night, and officers eventually spotted a human leg protruding from the water by the riverbank. With the assistance of a Jelani Security officer, police recovered the body from the water.

According to a source close to the investigation, Masiteng’s body was found naked, covered in bruises, with his private parts and neck tightly bound with a rope.

All relevant authorities were called to the scene, and the deceased was officially declared dead. Masiteng was later identified by a family member.

Following an investigation, three suspects were arrested and charged with murder. Investigations continue. Further arrests may follow as authorities seek justice for the victim.
